Could you have the back button go back one step at a time rather than going to the book level?

The upcoming 2.0 release has something that accomplishes this exactly -- you'll have to wait for the release to see how it works, though. ...within a couple of weeks (we hope to release this week and we don't know how long Apple will take to approve it.)

Totally agree, most of the times that's what I want to do, go back one step, and not to the book level.

Consider making the book and chapter in the header into a couple of buttons to go back to either the book or chapter selection screens.
