It would be great to have some recent French translations of the Bible.
At the top of the list would be "La Bible du Semeur" and "Nouvelle Bible Segond".

Just wondering if there have been any new developments as concerns getting the more recent French translations on Mantis?

Our plate is pretty full at the moment, so there's nothing new to report on this yet.

I haven't asked in quite a while… so is there any news of recent French translations of the Bible.

I'm sure all the commentaries, etc. you have put out are very useful for your English-speaking users, but we don't even have a half-decent version of the Bible yet (Louis Segond is a beginning-of-the-20th-century translation!). Please have compassion on French speakers!

We are working on the French NEG 1979 now and hope to release it in the coming weeks.

I hate to sound like a grouch but the NEG 1979 is thirty years old… The publisher, Maison de la Bible, has a more recent translation (Segond 21). Neither NEG nor Segond 21 are the most widely used French versions. Is there some sort of theological parti pris behind this choice?

For serious Bible study, there is no way round la Nouvelle Bible Segond (NBS). And for reading, la Bible du Semeur.

We're just doing the Maison de la Bible version because that publisher approached us and asked us to do it. We'd be happy to do any version that a publisher grants us the rights to.

I suppose the deafening silence about new French translations for Mantis means the publishers are not playing along?

If you confirm that is the case, it might be interesting to have French-speaking iPhone/ iPod users approach them directly. I would certainly be willing to give it a try…

We are doing the one modern French version -- production is just running behind.
